“Before I become a film director, my major was animation. So, I drew a lot of shoots and storyboarding the entire story already. Even make it looks like a short animation work.”
Exclusive Interview with Filmmaker Nico Falcone Georgiadis
NY Glam: Congratulations on being accepted at the prestigious International Filmmaker Festival of New York. Can you tell us about the film and the process of making it?
It is a student short film. And I am a first-time director. But all my crew members and I put all our hope together into this piece of work. So even I, because of the budget problem, didn’t get all the shots I need, I am still proud of it.
NY Glam: How did you go about casting for the film?
All my actors are coming from SF casting. And they are awesome!!!! I drew all my idea looking for my characters and after many auditions, I HAVE FOUND them.
NY Glam: What is the story about and how did you achieve it cinematically?
A small town located in the Nevada Mountains that has very strange things happening that last 36 years. Each year, one person missing and nobody ever found the body or any belongings. A young couple breaks into an old couples house after they robbed a bank. They want help from the old couple but the things that are waiting for them is way more than they can think…
NY Glam: Will you be attending the IFFNY festival in New York in May?
I would love to attend the festival but I am now in China. It is a long way for me to be there. BUT my UPM will be there instead of me.
NY Glam: How long have you been making films and videos?
Since 2008. But before this film, all I’ve done is learning and watching at most.
NY Glam: What film was your directorial debut?
This short film is my very first one.
NY Glam: What was the most important lesson you had to learn that has had a positive effect on your film? How did that lesson happen?
When my producer quit on me, I was desperate standing in front of the shooting location. I had made a phone call to my professor-Jana. Did I ask her: am I a bad director or not try enough for this job? She said: you are a good director, that is not your problem, and you will be a good director in the future, I will help you with that. I have finished my film with her help in both financial ways and spiritual ways. I couldn’t be more grateful.
NY Glam: Is it harder to get started or to keep going? What was the particular thing that you had to conquer to do either?
Keep going. TO BE HONEST, I’m not thinking about changing what I am doing right now. FILM becomes part of my life, I don’t want suicide.
NY Glam: How has your style evolved?
I’m not really pick up a style for myself. I am opened for every type so long as the story is what I am interested in.
NY Glam: What has been your personal key to success?
Passion for what you are interested in.
NY Glam: What are you thinking about doing next?
Making a feature film. I have a very exciting SiFi story.
NY Glam: Where does your studio want to go from here?
Make a film that can make everybody buy it.
