The headlines are everywhere: “AI is coming for your job.” For artists, musicians, and writers, the fear feels especially sharp. But here’s the truth: AI isn’t competition — it’s a tool, just like the camera, the typewriter, or Photoshop once were.
When photography was invented, painters feared extinction. Instead, modern art was born. Impressionism, surrealism, abstract expressionism — all of these movements grew because painters realized they didn’t have to copy reality anymore. The camera could do that.
AI today is the same. It can brainstorm ideas, mimic styles, and generate references. But it cannot replace the human spark — the personal story, cultural context, or lived emotion that makes art unforgettable. The artists who will thrive tomorrow are the ones who aren’t afraid to collaborate with AI, treating it as a second brush, not a replacement hand.
