Exclusive Interview with Abhishek Mishra – Screenwriter
Abhishek Mishra made his Screenwriting debut in 2021, with “The Script Lab – Fourth Annual Screenplay Contest” but the major turnaround on his career, took place in Jan-Feb 2022, when he receives a script coverage from an executive from Stage 32. It literally recommends him to have an alternate career, other than writing, and ever since then, I noticed some drastic changes. Suddenly his determination shoots up to another level, and I am glad that I met him 8 months before, because it’s always feels great to be around with someone whose main drive is to find a great story.
The great thing about Abhishek is his full commitment to his story. He doesn’t create rather he serves his story. He breathes in and out those mind-boggling ideas because I haven’t seen anyone coming up with some or the other idea, with the details every other day. And the best part is that he is very accepting in receiving feedback. He will take your feedback, brainstorm, and bring something to the table which will shock you out of your wits. He has been, is and will be a great pleasure to work with.
NY Glam: What projects are you currently working on?
Currently, I am writing a short, “The Act Of A Delirious Mind” and I am developing an outline and treatment for a T.V. Series, “The Confession Of An Oppressive Mind” Other than this, I am also developing some one of the other outline for a feature, “A Peerless Revenge Of A Cherished Lover”
NY Glam: What makes a film great for you? Are there certain qualities that make a film better for you?
According to me a Theme and the thematic presentation is what makes a great film. It’s the theme that describes the underlying arc of a character, and the story. And it’s one of the qualities that makes a film better for me. It’s the reason whenever I watch a movie, I tried to find out the theme of the movie, so that I can make relate to the character and the story.
NY Glam: As a screenwriter, what is the most important aspect of building a character?
The Character’s own journey, and its back story is what always makes the character interesting. So, building up a dramatic yet logical and relatable back story is what makes it interesting, along with a flaw, a need, and a want, which makes his journey ever interesting.
NY Glam: Top 3 favorite projects that you have been involved in?
Two of my series, “Checkmate”, “Truth & Dare”, and a feature, “Illusional Love”. Two of my series are revenge drama, but an unconventional one, where the protagonist takes the revenge psychologically on the antagonist, but at the same time, they forgive them. Whereas the feature is a psychological romantic story of a man as his wife finds about his extra-marital affair, and file for a divorce but as the court’s session progresses, she learns that her husband is having an affair with her alter-ego.
NY Glam: Do you express yourself creatively in any other ways?
I wish I could, but Writing is the only medium through which I shed my hidden inhibitions, desires, pain, anger, and all other possible emotion that ever exists.
NY Glam: What advice would you give to someone who wants to have a career in filmmaking?
I, myself still wanting to be the one 😊 but on a serious note, if someone wants to have a career in filmmaking, then my only advice would be, to have patience, and keep learning. Another important thing is to find a good mentor who can understand your creative need and guide you accordingly. I was lucky to find that in the form of “Mr. Swadhin Padhy, The Academic Director at Ronkel Media Education & Research Institute, India’s one of the most prestigious film institutes.” I know that the roads are unclear, and bumpy, but nothing is more thrilling than a roller-coaster ride, and I’m sure that’s the reason we all love it. When a student is ready, the guru appears.
NY Glam: What can we expect from you in this actual year?
I will continue to write, I have set the targets high for myself this year, and we will again have this Q&A in the end of the year.
NY Glam: Where can everyone keep up with you to learn more? …social media…website
I wish everyone can keep up with me in my stories, but as of now they can do so through Insta, Facebook, and Twitter, but I’m only available there once in a blue moon😊 No, on a serious note, I check my Insta regularly, especially during the time of competition results are around😊.
