Exclusive Interview with Nina Dzido – Artist
NY Glam: Tell us a little about yourself and your career beginnings?
ND: I am an ordinary 42 years old Polish women, mother of two beautiful boys; Jan and Antoni, living in Belgium for many years. My first and biggest passion is art, drawing, painting. Music – my second one, loyal friend on every moment of my life. My career? – Truly, don’t feel like I have one. Since 2019 I am following drawing classes at the Academy Berchem in Belgium. Although in the first two years my health condition doesn’t let me take a full opportunity to study. Still, one day last November I decided to share my thoughts = art on my Instagram page. That was a begin of my adventure with art.
NY Glam: What projects are you currently working on?
ND: This days I am trying to catch my thoughts for amazing pictures of Naomi Lampariello,
student of photography in Belgium. We’ll give together an exhibition within next few months in The Gallery Genk. Naomi will take care of photography and I will make mine interpretations of it. This project is very
important and special to me.
NY Glam: What art do you most identify with?
ND: Personally, I admire all kind of art. Always, with a one condition – need to, have to feel IT. Everything what comes from human mind, can be an Art for me. What was invented can be done. So, when I walk on the street and see an old women making a beautiful piece of art with small flowers from her garden, standing there, waiting for someone who could even see her, buy this small bouquet for a few cents, that is exactly kind of art I identify with. Hope I will always stay that way.
NY Glam: What themes do you pursue?
ND: Oh, I do not pursue any… Themes pursues me, if you know what I mean…
NY Glam: What’s your favorite art work?
ND: A painting „Eternal Silence” – Amadeo Modigliani, Jeanne Hebuterne Such a tension and beauty, which I’ll always trying to catch..
NY Glam: Tell us about some of your recent exhibitions?
ND: I had only one, to be honest. It was a few months ago in Milano, online contemporary art gallery M.A.D.S. Milano,
An exhibition called „Kromatic@rt”, my first incredible experience with exhibitions.
NY Glam: Tell us about one of your project which you are very proud of?
ND: Always, the most important things are those which I am making at the present moment. I am very emotional person, with a lot of thoughts behind my head. Those very intensive emotions I find in Naomi’s pictures. Together, we can create something unique, I believe. I am proud that I can be part of it! And that is all because of people whose believe in me. Here, I want to tank everyone who helped me and keep helping me over last months!
NY Glam: What does „being creative” mean to you?
ND: Being creative = being inspired by every small thing I see, hear or feel!
NY Glam: What are you trying to communicate with your art?
ND: My art is my state of mind, my happiness, my sadness, my everything. Being honest – that is what I would love to show…
NY Glam: What role does the Artist have in Society?
ND: The Artist should make people think, think and feel more. An Art doesn’t have to be liked. Has to give emotions, good emotions. Maybe one day, we’ll put away our masks. Maybe also because of art.
NY Glam: What are your thoughts on being an artist in today’s world?
ND: This world isn’t friendly for an artists. Today’s world is closed. People are more closed, I think. When I show/share my works, sometimes, I have an impression that I’m too „not closed”, that makes me scared a bit. Just Wonder – What if we all could be more… „open”? Being sensitive, being artist isn’t always easy.
NY Glam: How has painting influenced your life?
ND: My painting changed me, I changed my paintings, and all over again, I guess. I’ve changed, together with my life/art. Truly believe, I’ll grow up enough to see and understand things more.
NY Glam: What art movement or artist would you say influences your work most?
ND: Difficult question. As an budding artist, I observe, keep asking, feel and talk a lot about all kinds of art, techniques, meanings, etc. I love honest work, passion art, the kind art which I Wonder… Contemporary art usually gives me the most comfort, touch of beauty, but on the other hand wildness and incomprehensibility. In a simply words: being crazy on a paper, seeing crazy things in other artists works inspire me most, which gives automatically great fluence on my
works.
NY Glam: What can we expect from you this year?
ND: Honestly, do not know yet.. Hope, a lot those crazy fun / draws.
NY Glam: Can you share with us three favorite things about your city/culture?
ND: Of course, I can! I am a lucky girl, I grew up and spent my young life in my beloved Poland. The three best things of my country – hospitality, openness and great food! Lucky, cause I also got a bit of Belgian culture – great sense of humor, distance to yourself and most important – those large delicious fries with mayonnaise.
