Marilo Meta has made a career of starting\norganizations and promoting youth development, including Leadership Development\nAssociation Balkan (LDA) which he founded in 2016 and serves as President. Under\nhis leadership LDA Balkan has developed roots as well-known international\norganization, committed to creating environments where youth thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta is a recognized leader in\nyouth development, with extensive experience in the nonprofit sector. In 2018\nhe served as Atlas Corps fellow from Albania at the Open Government Partnership\nin Washington, DC. He later launched the international NGO \u201cLeadership\nDevelopment Association Balkan, to provide leadership opportunities for youth. As\nPresident of LDA, Marilo Meta has successfully organized international conferences\nfor youth development via LDA Balkan in Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Presevo\nValley and Northern Macedonia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta is currently pursuing a master\u2019s\ndegree in International Relations and Regional Studies at the European\nUniversity of Tirana. He earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in computer science (2013)\nand a Master of Science in Information Technology and Communications (2015)\nfrom the University of Tirana in Albania. Marilo holds a certificate in Political\nLeadership and a certificate in Cognitive Law from the Elita Professional\nAcademy in Albania. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019 he served as Intellectual Property\nInspector at the State Inspectorate for Market Surveillance, to oversee and\nmaintain the integrity of electronic data relating to intellectual property, EU\nacquis Chapter 7. In 2017 Marilo worked as IT specialist at the Albanian\nFinancial Intelligence Unit (Anti Money Laundering) Albanian Ministry of\nFinance and Economy. And in 2015 he served as the advertising and public\nrelations Marketing Manager for the Albanian Police Force. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta is passionate about human rights, the environment, and effective governance. He is considered one of the influential young leaders in Albania. He is engaged in several youth organizations including AEGEE, AIESEC, Beyond Barriers, Rotaract Tirana, and Albanian Youth Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the key message\nyou want to convey via the Leadership Development Association Balkan (LDA)? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong>\nWe believe that the young people\u2019s potential is a movement for future and for a\nbetter tomorrow. We\nencourage young people in Albania to become involved in youth organizations. Our\nmessage is to support and help each other with progressive principles for the\nfuture of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tell us about other team\nplayers you collaborate in LDA Balkan? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> We are excited\nabout our teams who tirelessly promote the mission of LDA Balkan worldwide. Our\nleadership team includes the following amazing and talented people: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Kosova team, Q\u00ebndrim\nHoxha is the Vice President, Dr. Sedat Baraliu, is the HR Manager, and Qendresa\nNikqi, Deputy Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Tirana team, Dorian\nKane is the CEO of LDA Balkan in Albania, Iva Durdaj is the HR Manager, and Ina\nTase, the Project Director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Northern Macedonia\nteam, Dafina Memeti serves as the CEO of LDA Balkan Branch in Northern\nMacedonia. Liridona Kuqi and Jeton Bu\u00e7i are representatives at the LDA Balkan\nRegional Board of Directors from LDA in Northern Macedonia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Presevo Valley team,\nLeonora Pajaziti is the CEO of LDA Balkan Branch in Presevo Valley and<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leotrim Edipi is the\nrepresentative at the LDA Balkan Regional Board of Directors from LDA in\nPresevo Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the Montenegro team,\nVjola Avdiu is the CEO of LDA Balkan Branch in Montenegro and Vediha Gjoni is\nthe representative at the LDA Balkan Regional Board of Directors from LDA in\nMontenegro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is your vision for\nthis organization? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> LDA continues\nto provide opportunities that empower young people through education,\ndevelopment, and regional cooperation. We want for the youth to see the world\nfrom a different perspective. Our vision at LDA is to mobilize young people\nthrough youth groups engagement, social network discussions, and youth\nparliaments. We emphasize the importance of becoming active local actors, capacity\nbuilding and promoting inter-youth dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through LDA Balkan\nin Albania, we are providing new opportunities for personal and professional\ndevelopment for young people. We are trying to bring excellence to youth work\nand personal development to young individuals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What do you see as the\nrole and value of the board in your success as President and Founder of LDA? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> Motivating young professionals and leading with passion are key to LDA\u2019s success. My leadership style is to lead with trust, integrity, and inclusive leadership. We try to encourage cooperation through education, capacity building, volunteering, and networking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What experiences and\nactivities have been successful so far? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> LDA activities\ninclude trainings programs for different target-groups, seminars, conferences, and\nworkshops. Some of our causes have focused on public campaigns against domestic\nviolence, promoting environment protection and promoting a healthy lifestyle.\nWe also engage youth in public debates, provide internships and educational\nactivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have engaged in several\nactivities that have had a great impact internationally for the Balkan Youth. An Albanian delegation of 25\nparticipants from LDA Balkan, represented the country in Sochi, Russia, at the\nWorld Youth Festival 2017, among 30,000 young people from 180 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 400 participants from\nAlbania, Kosovo, and Macedonia attended the Albanian Dreamin\u2019 2020 Conference. This conference is\npart of the Global Dreamforce Salesforce Conference and was held for the\nfirst time in Albania in February 2020. Salesforce representatives from the\nUSA, Spain, Italy, France, and Croatia participated as well. They shared their\nexperiences and discussed how artificial intelligence is shaping the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another important event I would like\nto highlight is the LEAP Summit Zagreb in Croatia, that\nwas held for three consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.LDA Balkan participated with a delegation of\n40-50 Albanian youth from Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro, Presevo Valley and\nNorthern Macedonia at the LEAP Summit Zagreb. The global 3-day conference\ngathered more than 2,000 young entrepreneurs, professionals, NGO leaders and various\nexperts. The conference focused on modern technologies, entrepreneurship, and\ncareer development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are some of LDA\u2019s biggest accomplishments? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> In 2019 the Leadership\nDevelopment Association Balkan received the Certificate of Achievement from United\nStates Agency International Development (USAID) for successfully completing the\nLeadership Strengthening Program. LDA was also named \u201cBest Performing Entity of\nthe Year\u201d in 2019 by the Leadership development Association International. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, LDA received Certificate of Appreciation for supporting the European Union Strasbourg Model that took place in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The previous year it received the Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of valuable contribution to the LEAPiN Tirana 2017 by LEAPiN Summit Croatia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We heard that you are also\nexpanding and branching your organization. Can you tell us more about this\ninitiative? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> Since LDA\u2019s inception in 2016, we were inspired by the potential we saw in young\npeople. In 2017 I had the pleasure to meet with Mr. Q\u00ebndrim Hoxha, Vice\nPresident of LDA Balkan and CEO of LDA Balkan in Kosovo, my best colleague.\nTogether with Q\u00ebndrim Hoxha, we decided to give our best efforts to create a\nsense of \u201cOhana\u201d (family) through the Balkans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Q\u00ebndrim Hoxha and\nI are delighted to support young people and provide many exciting opportunities\nfor them. LDA Balkan will continue its work in the current active branches in Albania,\nKosovo, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, and the Presevo Valley. And we look\nforward to creating new branches in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What other projects do you\nhave coming up?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> After our\nregional board meeting, held in Prizren, Kosovo on November 1, 2020, LDA Balkan\nhopes to engage all LDA Balkan branches to co-create a 3-year Regional Youth\nProgram. This program will include several key activities such as LEAPiN and\nDREAMiN Conferences in all the LDA branches and youth camps in Western Balkans.\nWe hope to continue our collaboration with our international partners,\nincluding NECE (Networking European Citizenship Education) Conferences, WYF\n(World Youth Forum) Egypt, Dreamforce Salesforce California USA, and WFYS\n(World Festival of Youth and Students). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this Regional Youth\nProgram LDA will engage young people to foster local partnerships with\ninstitutions and organization running in the Western Balkan. LDA Balkan in\nAlbania is engaged with the Open Government Partnership (Washington DC, USA) to\nco-create with the Tirana Municipality the new, improved 4-year action plan for\nTirana, Albania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your plans for\nthe future?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marilo Meta:<\/strong> I see myself involved in international relations. I will continue to work with youth via LDA Balkan in hopes of empowering youth and creating an equal society in Albania. And I look forward to all the wonderful events we have planned with our international partners. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
