The&nbsp;<strong>name<\/strong>&nbsp;is an abbreviation from the original&nbsp;<strong>name<\/strong>&nbsp;of the place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The city is known by&nbsp;<strong>its<\/strong>&nbsp;initials,&nbsp;<strong>L.A.<\/strong>, and by&nbsp;<strong>its<\/strong>&nbsp;nickname, the City of Angels, derived from the Spanish translation of Los Angeles.
