She studied\nLiterature, Journalism and Psychology at the University of Bamberg. Iris worked\nas an online and magazine journalist for 20 years, before focusing on novels\nand screenwriting. Her first novel \u201cGosia\u2019s Children\u201d sold over 10.000 copies\nin multiple languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leia is a London based award-winning writer and filmmaker. She has a degree in Sculpture and a MA in Screenwriting. Bur both are top secret! Although we can say that Alpacas play a big role in the Romcom. The Sitcom is another work-place story just like our Comedy Pilot \u201cMidlife Drive-Thru\u201d. And sometimes the Romcom is a little bit of a RomDram and the Sitcom a little bit of a SitDram. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NY Glam: What makes a film great for you? Are there certain qualities that make a film better for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A film is\ngreat when it empowers the audience, when it lifts people and entertains them.\nPeople should leave the cinema (or the sofa) with a smile on their face and\nwith new inspiration and hope in their hearts. We\u2019re totally not interested in\nviolence, sadism or formulaic storytelling. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NY Glam: <\/strong><strong>As a\nscreenwriter, what is the most important aspect of building a character? <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\ncharacter must be intriguing and credible. He or she must have flaws and\nweaknesses that are understandable and relatable. It\u2019s about emotional\nauthenticity; if the audience doesn\u2019t believe in the behavior of the character,\nthen the whole thing falls apart, just because the writer hasn\u2019t dug deep\nenough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NY Glam: Top 3 favorite projects that you have been involved in?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-creating the TV-Pilot Midlife Drive-Thru \u2013 it\u2019s a menopausal Sex &amp; The City<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iris\u2019s novel \u201cGosia\u2019s Children\u201d \u2013 it tells of how WW2 tore apart a German-Polish family<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leia\u2019s script \u201cThe Last Dragon\u201d \u2013 which tells of how Leia swapped roles with her beloved Gran, who had developed Alzheimer\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NY Glam: Do you express&nbsp;yourself&nbsp;creatively in any other ways?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iris paints with oil and acrylic colors, knits little animals and writes poems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leia paints, sculpts, also writes poems and tries to maintain her houseboat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NY\nGlam: What advice would you give to someone who wants to\nhave a career in filmmaking?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trust your\ninstincts, but also have a plan! Create something fresh and wonderful that you really\nwant to see. Then create more. Believe in yourself and persevere. Surround\nyourself with contemporaries and learn from, and support each other! And don\u2019t\nstop!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NY\nGlam: What can we\nexpect from you in 2020?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More nonsense and laughter. More noise complaints from Airbnb Hosts.\nAnother Sitcom that makes people fall out of their chairs laughing. A return to\nLA for more meetings. More competition wins.
