Exclusive Interview with Eric Zoa -Filmmaker<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Eric Zoa was born in Yaound\u00e9, Cameroon in 1985. He grew up in Israel from the age 5 till he graduated then went to study in Paris, France.\u00a0 He majored in Communication and caught both the acting and writing bug. He went to film school in Paris from 2010 to 2014. In 2014. He starred in a first short film that he also wrote named \u2018Les Chemins vers l\u2019hostie\u2019. He followed it up (in 2015) with his first starring role in a feature film that he \u00a0wrote as well called \u2018Je les aime, Je les aime tous,\u00a0 Tu le sais\u2019 produced by two independent companies KN5 Production and Tornado Productions. In 2016, he joined the Acting Conservatory in DC for two\u00a0 years. In 2017, he wrote and co-directed\u00a0 his first play called \u2018Karma Instantane\u2019 along with Elodie\u00a0 Esteve, which was held in Paris at La Folie Theatre. In 2018, he adapted his play into a screenplay called \u2018K.I.A.B\u2019. He produced, wrote, starred and co-directed his first film with the talented Oleksii Osyka. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: What projects are you currently working on?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been looking for a distribution company\non my first feature film \u2018\u2019K.I.A.B\u2019\u2019. I\u2019m currently working on raising money\nfor the next feature film I want to make called \u2018Andre\u2019s Gang\u2019 a thriller in a\nmovie theater.  I \u2018m actually working\nwith a line producer this time so hopefully I\u2019ll soon be approaching production\ncompanies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: What makes a film great for you? Are there\ncertain qualities that make a film better for you?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story. I swear, it really truly is\nall about the story.  You can\u2019t walk\nwithout a good spine. Well, the same goes for movies. It\u2019s all about the\nscript. A good film for me should at the very least have two things: Don\u2019t be\nboring and be entertaining. The icing on the cake would be to have a message :\nHave something to say. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: As a screenwriter, what is the most\nimportant aspect of building a character?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The  most important thing is to have a complete\ncharacter arc, whether it is ascending or not.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: Top 3 favorite projects that you have been\ninvolved in?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018<\/em>Je les aime, Je les aime tous, tu le sais\u2019 which is a French film I wrote and in which I starred in as well I played a cop. We had so much fun shooting this psychological thriller in the snow. It was intense scary and fun. Gaultier Barra one of  the co- director is so talented and is one of my best friends. Shooting this movie was like going camping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second one would be co-directing my first feature film \u2018K.I.A.B\u2019 a claustrophobic thriller this time. We shot the whole film in one location. I produced co directed wrote and starred in it as well. Easily the hardest project I had to do yet. Thank god, I had Oleksii Osyka co-directing the film with me. This guy was a godsend, so talented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, writing and co-directing my first play in Paris called \u2018Karma Instantane\u2019. Doing this project was like\u2018war\u2019.  <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: Do you express\u202fyourself\u202fcreatively in any other\nways?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love acting. I used to draw a lot\nwhen I was a kid. I have to get back to that. Probably why my first screenplay\nwas about painting .  I have to learn\nmartial arts and Tango too at some point. Maybe painting as well. We shall see\u2026\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: What advice would you give to someone who wants\nto have a career in filmmaking?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Use every tool you have at your\ndisposal, even if you have to shoot in one room. If you have the vision and the\ndrive, you will make it. No matter what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NY Glam: What can we expect from you in 2020?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Andre\u2019s  Gang\u2019. The thriller in the movie theater. I\u2019m\nso excited for it! It\u2019s very original, \nfun, scary and contemporary. Other than that more plays, more\nscreenplays and hopefully more acting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
