In reality, &#8220;The Underground Railroad&#8221; was a network of abolitionists, hidden routes, and safe houses that helped enslaved African-Americans escape to freedom in the early to mid-1800s. In the novel and the series, it is an actual railroad complete with engineers, conductors, tracks, and tunnels. Cora, an enslaved woman from Georgia, joins newcomer Caesar to ride the subterranean train to freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on May 14, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Underground Railroad Season 2 won\u2019t come in 2021. There simply isn\u2019t enough time to get through all the stages of production now. Even if the show was renewed straight after the release of the first season, there wouldn\u2019t be enough time to bring a second season before the year is finished. Amazon doesn\u2019t release two seasons of the same show within one calendar year.
