Exclusive Interview with Aaron Smith – Screenwriter-filmmaker
Aaron Smith o was born in Bronx, NY. He graduated from Manhattan Collage in 1990. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the College in 1994 in Multimedia and communication. In 1995, he started to study filming and pursue his dream. Currently he is working on his 2nd screenplay. His first screenplay called “Dinning Table” and has won several film awards.
NY GLAM: WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY WORKING ON?
I am excited, I am currently working on a new Fiction Film called ‘War zone’ written and directed by me. I was hoping to have a May 2023 release and submit to International Film Festivals. This is my second project.
My other project is a drama called Paris. I hope to have this ready for spring 2023 to pitch to the networks.
NY GLAM: WHAT MAKES A FILM GREAT FOR YOU? ARE THERE CERTAIN QUALITIES THAT MAKE A FILM BETTER FOR YOU?
Personally, a film has to grab me within the first ten minutes. When the movie is over, I want to remember this start and at leas one of characters.
NY GLAM: AS A SCREENWRITER, WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF BUILDING A CHARACTER.
You need to know everything about the character. What kind of life did he have growing up, who is – was, his social and economic status.
NY GLAM: DO YOU EXPRESS YOURSELF CREATIVELY IN ANY OTHR WAYS?
As I told you before, I am currently working on my second screenplay, entitled “War Zone”. My first ever screenplay won a couple of awards in different film festivals, and this was like a wake up call that I want to write more and more every day. Especially, receiving a cash prize from ISC gives me the satisfaction of being the best.
NY GLAM: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONEWHO WANTS TO HAVE A CAREER IN FILMAKING?
You have to learned to have patience. Movie industry is very competitive, somehow cruel. Never stop, if you stop, it is much harder to get back on track.
NY GLAM: WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU IN 2020?
I am hoping to raise funding to produce at least 2 films this year. The “Iron Wraiths” and my featured S.T.A.N.E.
NY GLAM: WHERE CAN EVERYONE KEEP UP WITH YOU TO LEARN MORE?
I almost never use social media. I have a Twitter account and LinkedIn, but I don’t remember were I checked them for the last time.
